Description

What a sight... The last period of classic Carrier Air Wing ops that boasted multiple types on deck. Here, the F-14 Tomcat mixes with S-3 Vikings, EA-6B Prowlers and Legacy Hornets of Carrier Air Wing Eight (CVW-8) on the bustling, pitching and rolling flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71). The image was taken during Operation 'Iraqi Freedom' in February 2006, on the final operational cruise of the mighty Tomcat. The Vikings, Prowlers and Legacy Hornets were all withdrawn from service within a few years of this being taken.
